Psychedelic Psychotherapy

Psychedelic psychotherapy is a form of therapy in which legal psychedelic medicines are used in session to catalyze and support the therapeutic process. Psychedelic medicines often provide non-ordinary states of consciousness that enable new ways of accessing and approaching internal experiences. Whether to address specific concerns such as anxiety, depression or trauma, or simply to engage in the process of depth exploration and spiritual growth, psychedelic psychotherapy is an option that enables individuals to deepen their therapeutic work in a safe and supportive environment.

Treatment plans typically include a minimum of three individual psychotherapy sessions for preparation, followed by a mandatory medical screen with a prescribing physician. Clients then engage in a series of ketamine sessions, often 2-6 sessions within a month. The ketamine sessions are followed by integration therapy to ensure the highest benefit from the psychedelic medicine sessions.

Craig Salerno Counseling only works with legal medicines (Ketamine or Cannabis) under the direction and guidance of medical professionals. All clients interested in psychedelic therapy will first be screened to ensure safety with this modality. Psychedelic therapy is not for everyone.

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a modality that combines the support of psychotherapy with the medicinal and psychedelic benefits of ketamine. Ketamine serves as a catalyst to bring forward therapeutic content and non-ordinary states of consciousness, while the psychotherapist is present to support clients with deepening and integrating these experiences.

Ketamine is a safe, legal, and highly effective psychedelic medicine being researched as a treatment option for depression, PTSD, anxiety, and addiction. Ketamine is commonly used in hospitals worldwide and has gained traction within therapy for it’s ability to provide insight, spiritual experience, and direct relief from certain mental health symptoms.

As a KAP client, you will first need medical approval from our collaborating nurse or doctor before treatment. Ketamine is self-administered in session as a sublingual lozenge, or administered from a nurse or doctor as an intramuscular (IM) injection. Sessions typically last 2-3 hours. Ketamine Intensives

Craig Salerno Counseling also offers ketamine intensives combining mindfulness training, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), and psychedelic integration. Each intensive is tailored to the needs of the client and combines medicine work with creative forms of integration and support. We are contracted with local providers and can offer additional wilderness therapy, reiki, bodywork, massage, and yoga therapy to each intensive experience.

Typically scheduled over a three to fourteen day period, with a minimum of three KAP sessions, the ketamine intensives are a deep dive into medicine work. Intensives are ideal for individuals traveling from out-of-state or for clients who want a retreat-style experience. Below is a sample schedule.

Day One: Orientation and Welcoming Ceremony, Initial KAP Session

Day Two: Integration Session, Second KAP Session, Wilderness Therapy Experiential

Day Three: Bodywork Integration, Third KAP Session, Closing Ceremony

**All intensives include a medical intake and evaluation, as well as three hours of preparatory coaching before arrival.
